I had only just started learning Spanish as a filler course for my A-Levels and I understand so much more about the Spanish culture and way of life. My basic language skills improved so much (not to mention my habit of excessive hand gestures whilst speaking to my friends). It is so worthwhile to take the time and take a trip abroad, no matter what language you are learning. Nothing can replace the value and experience of immersing yourself in a culture. My trip to Spain made such an impact on my that in September 2008 of this year, I am starting a four year degree at the University of Exeter in BA Spanish.
