All the English language courses that we offer are for adults from 16 years old, except for the Internship Program. The most courses start every Monday of the week.

General English Course in New Castle

The general English language courses include everything! From reading, writing, listening and speaking to vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation. Before the student starts the course, they have to make a test so that they can be placed in the right level.

Course 1 – General English (GE10)

This 10 hours General English course can be combined with the Academic English courses, the Business English courses and the Cambridge courses, so you can increase your studying hours per week.

Course 2 – General English + PSP (GE10 + PSP5)

This 15 hours General English course is combined with a 5 hours Personal Study Programme (PSP). This PSP is designed for students who want to learn English for special purposes. An individualised programme will be set up for the student.

Course 3 – General English (GE20)

This course contents only 20 hours of General English.

Course 4 – General English + PSP (GE20 + PSP5)

This 20 hours General English course is combined with a 5 hours Personal Study Programme (PSP). This PSP is designed for students who want to learn English for special purposes. An individualised programme will be set up for the student.

Course 5 – General English + PSP (GE20 + PSP10)

This 20 hours General English course is combined with a 10 hours Personal Study Programme (PSP). This PSP is designed for students who want to learn English for special purposes. An individualised programme will be set up for the student.

English Language School Newcastle

Business English

These Business English courses contain the English language skills and grammar, but then all in a business context. The end of the course can lead to a TOEIC examination and so a diploma.

Course 1 – Business English (BE15)

This 15 hours Business English course contains 10 hours of lessons in class and 5 hours of the Individual Business Program. Students who want to attend this course have to have at least an Upper Intermediate level of English.

Course 2 – Business English + General English (BE15+GE10)

This 15 hours Business English course is combined with a 10 hours General English course (GE).

Academic English

The Academic English courses prepare you for the IELTS examination. All the reading, writing, listening and speaking components will be studied and practised. This course is also available for the students who want to take the TOEFL examination.

Course 1 – Academic English (AE15)

This 15 hours Academic English course contains a 10 hours classroom teaching and a 5 hour Individual Academic Program.

Course 2 – Academic English + General English (AE15+GE10)

This 15 hours Academic English course is combined with a 10 hours General English course. Students who want to attend this course have to have at least an Upper Intermediate level of English.

Cambridge English

The international house is an examination centre for the Cambridge ESOL examinations. The Cambridge Examination Classes, that IH Newcastle provides, will prepare you in 12 weeks towards the Cambridge ESOL Examination. Students can join after the starting dates, but then their level has to subject to the level of English in classes. The starting dates of these courses are:

  • 5th of January – 13th of March
  • 23rd of March – 12th of June
  • 14th of September – 4th of December

Remaining English Courses

Private lessons (One–to–one)

This course is for students’ individual requirements. These lessons are not in classes, but just one student getting lessons from one teacher.

Methodology and Language Awareness Courses for Teachers of English (OTC)

These courses are meant for people who want to develop their way of teaching. It will develop your awareness of the current trends in language teaching and you finally will get the IHoCTL international teaching certificate. You will get language awareness classes, methodology seminars and workshops and a daily Personal Study Program every day. There are only possibilities to attend these courses between the 29th of June and the 7th of August. Only 2, 3 or 4 weeks are available in this period.

English + Internship (E+I)

These courses are perfect for students who want to learn English next to their internship that they are doing in Newcastle. The minimum length of the study is 4 weeks of Business English and a maximum of an 8 weeks internship. You can only do this internship when your 18 years or older and have an Upper Intermediate level of English.

English for Aviation (EA)

This 25 hours course is meant for the people who are working on the area of the airline who need to learn English. The course is or for 4 or for 8 weeks and the Test of English for Aviation (TEA) is in the fees included.

Online Management and Vocational Training Courses

These online English courses are meant for international companies and educational institutions. There are over 400 online courses that will improve your understanding in the working and studying environment. Over 2.2 million people have been successfully taken these courses and are now finally available to be international.

In the 20, 25 and the 30 hours course it is only possible to get lessons on time 1 mixed with time 3 or time 2 mixed with time 4. There is no possibility to follow lessons on time 2 combined with time 3. All the courses that we offer have a maximum of 12 students per class.
