Accommodation in Malta

EF Homestay

Living in a private home offers a warm and secure way to immerse yourself in the daily life of your new country. Many of our families have looked after EF students for many years and are familiar with the challenges of living in a foreign country. Many of the customs you observe will be very different from those you are used to at home. The family routine and the food you eat may be different from at home.

Homestay is the right option for you:

  • If you are interested in a welcoming and supportive native speaking living environment.
  • If you would like to experience local culture 24 hours a day.
  • If you are interested in establishing lifetime contacts with your host family.

Our homestay program boasts a strong network of local families – all accommodation is carefully inspected by the accommodation officer and our host families are chosen for their kind welcome and supportive attitude. The family's habits, meal routine and especially the food might be very different from those at home. Accommodation in a host family includes a bed and a shared bathroom in a Maltese home. Depending on the type of room you booked you may have a single room or share a room with another EF student. Your meals in the host family will include breakfast and dinner on weekdays and breakfast, lunch and dinner on the weekends. You will eat dinner with your hosts.

Are you looking for a more independent and flexible living option? Our residence is located a couple of minutes on foot from the school and offers basic accommodation with breakfast and dinner included. Each room has its own bathroom which is shared between two to four students. Some rooms are equipped with cooking facilities.

A residence is the right option for you:

  • If you want to be within easy traveling distance to the EF school and city center.
  • If you want the ultimate flexibility in how you live – often with self-catering facilities.
  • If you want to the experience of living in the heart of your host city while maintaining high independence.

Alternative Options

Accommodation in a hotel usually is a single or a twin room on bed and breakfast basis in a 3-star hotel located within a short walking distance from the school. Students can also upgrade their booking to a 4- or 5-star hotel.

The tourist part of St Julian’s is very busy at night and it can be fairly noisy in some local hotels and our St Julian’s residences until the early hours of the morning
