Activities in Zurich

Discover Zurich thanks to the rich program of activities designed, especially for you, by our language school. LSI offers its students a wide choice of activities, so you won’t have time to get bored! Skiing and ice-skating in winter, swimming and sailing in summer, and all year round museum tours and walks through the historic town to discover its cafés and boutiques.

On the weekends, you can go hiking or try rafting, snowboarding or mountain bike riding. From Zurich, 1 hour by train is enough to reach towns like Basel, Bern or Lucerne. Located in the centre of Europe, Switzerland is also an ideal departure point for exploring neighbouring countries like Austria, France, Germany and Italy.

What does the attractive city of Zurich have to offer? Aside from the world’s highest quality of life, clean air and water, Zurich is brimming with life beyond your expectations! 

In Zurich you can visit its historic Old Town and be charmed by its churches with tall steeples.  If you would want to look at traditional or contemporary art or historic artifacts, museums and art galleries can be found almost anywhere in the city and you should visit some or if possible, all of them!  Have a dose of Swiss culture whenever you are in Zurich and experience its customs and traditions.

You can also try out the unique culinary specialties whenever you are in Zurich.  The long standing tradition of meatless cuisine in Zurich is evident in its numerous restaurants!  Visit the very first vegetarian restaurant in Europe, the House Hiltl which opened in 1898, and enjoy Zurich’s largest salad buffet with over forty varieties and fresh fruit juices!  If you want to dine with a lovely view of the Old Town, go to the attractive and non-smoking restaurant Karl de Grosse.   Zurich is also known for its chocolates and confections so you better nurture your sweet tooth when in the city and try out the popular chocolate specialties, truffles and the famous Luxemburgerli made by the famous Confiserie Sprüngli!  There is always a feast whenever you are in Zurich!  And if you do not know how to ask for this great food, you can always come and learn German for a few weeks in Zurich. You will learn to speak the German language before you even know it.

If you are more into sports and would want to go swimming, biking, hiking, ice skating, ice hockey, Zurich has riversides, lakesides, open-air areas, sports centers and numerous trails for you to have fun in while you work your body out. If you would rather go dancing, climbing or bowling, you don’t need to worry because you can have access to those activities whenever you are in Zurich!  You can also relax on the grass or take a stroll in Zurich’s various gardens and parks.  Experience freedom and join its annual Street Parade whenever you are in the city!

Enjoy the vibrant Zurich night life by going to its numerous hot spots and have fun until early in the morning! More than five hundred establishments in Zurich stay open even after midnight and are frequented by locals and tourists! In summer there are many open-air bars where you can enjoy a nice drink and relax. If you are more into the partying and clubbing scene, world famous DJs play everything from acid, techno, latin, house to jazz music in Zurich’s numerous clubs. Go and try your luck at the Grand Casino Baden whenever in Zurich and experience a night out with a difference! Enjoy the lively and lovely nights of Zurich whenever you visit the city!

Interested in shopping for special items, antiques, or luxury brands when in Zurich?  Go to the world famous shopping street, the Bahnhofstrasse, and enjoy not just international brands like Louis Vuitton or Chanel but also the city’s own urban labels like silk accessories from Fabric Frontline, beachwear and street wear from Alprausch or the recycled truck tarpaulin bags by Freitag!  Shopping in Zurich is indeed worth it!
