Please note that excursions in Tokyo must be booked in advance from your home country to ensure a place for participation. It is only possible to book excursions with a summer- or winter holiday course. These courses take place on specified dates in January, February, April, July, August and October. The holiday course consists of 20 English classes per week plus several excursions depending on the season. Examples for the excursions are: a journey to the beautiful cities of Kamakura or Nikko, to Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park with its famous hot springs or to Sumo fights or to Tokyo Disneyland.

Tokyo is a large urban city with sky scrapers, fast trains and high technology gadgets and inventions.   However, in spite of its modern developments, Tokyo still keeps in touch with its traditional side.  When you visit Tokyo’s various museums you will be immersed into Japanese culture as shown in their art and artifacts.  View some of traditional paintings done by Murasaki Shikibu and ukiyo-e woodblock prints by Hokusai! Get the chance to view Japanese calligraphy and traditional sculptures also found in Tokyo’s museums. Modern and contemporary art can be seen in Tokyo’s modern art museums. 

Have a different taste of Japanese culture in Tokyo by tasting Japanese culinary delicacies!  Japanese cuisine has evolved over the years. Do you think that you are adventurous enough to try sushi and sashimi!  Have a bowl of ramen, have a bite of yakitori, a few pieces of tempura, or try out the udon!  If you would rather have a complete Japanese meal, try the kaiseki.  The kaiseki is a meal consisting of fifteen different courses of food such as fish and meat dishes, tofu, sashimi, and tempura prepared in diverse traditional styles and served to please all your senses with its colorful presentations, wonderful smells and delicious tastes!  Do not forget to have sake or rice wine while you feast!

See live performances and different productions of traditional Japanese plays in Tokyo’s many theaters.  Performing arts is a very important part of the Japanese culture so go and discover the art of Japanese drama in kabuki and noh style theaters as well as modern drama. Watch rock concerts of local or international bands in some of Tokyo’s arenas.  If you would prefer orchestra and traditional music, you can visit some of Tokyo’s venues because there’s almost always a live music performance in Tokyo. 

If you would want to stroll in Tokyo’s parks and gardens, there are plenty for you to visit! Tokyo might seem like a concrete jungle but you can still find green oases dotted along the city. View the cherry blossoms during spring and the gingko leaves during autumn in Tokyo’s gardens!  Most of Tokyo’s gardens stay beautiful all the four seasons of the year so they are the perfect place to stay and have.  Enjoy outdoor sports while you stay in the city’s parks.
