Spanish School in Tamarindo, Costa Rica

The school and residence are situated on a hill, 10 minutes walk from the town centre and the beach. It is surrounded by lush vegetation and is very quiet and peaceful. Howler monkeys and hummingbirds visit the school gardens regularly.

The school is located just outside the main town centre, which means it is very quiet and peaceful. The building is colonial in design and built around a well needed pool where students can relax after classes. There are shaded patio areas, terraces and balconies on the second floors which overlook the school and surrounding nature. We have a barbecue area for students to cook-out on and a small café which serves food and drinks. The school is fully equipped with AC and with wireless WiFi Internet, so students bringing laptops will have Internet access. There is a computer lab also, which is open for classes and students to email family and friends.

The School Director is assisted by a very competent academic staff, an Administrative Coordinator, Student Life Director, and an Activities Coordinator. The Activities Coordinator can assist students in arranging travel plans, organizing social events, games and excursions. We has staff members who live in the school and will help you get settled into the residence when you arrive. The Resident Advisor (RA) oversees student life in the residence and is also available in case of an emergency.

The Academic program gives students the opportunity to study the Spanish language and the Costa Rican culture for as long and with as much intensity as suits the student and his or her needs. Intensive, Exam Preparation, General and Basic courses of study are available at Costa Rica. All students will attend grammar, listening, speaking, reading and writing classes.

On your first day of orientation, you will be tested for your knowledge of the Spanish language with a fluency test. This testing will measure your grammar and listening comprehension abilities. From the results of this testing, you will be placed into one of eight different language levels. At this time you will also receive your class schedule. As your Spanish language skills become stronger, you will be promoted into the next language level.

Sports Facilities

Tamarindo is a famous surf destination and there are also great spots for scuba diving and snorkelling. Other outdoor sports include horseback riding and mountain bike. Within 5 minutes’ walk you find a well equipped gym with aerobics classes, a tennis club, a football field and a dance studio. 45 minutes to the world renowned golf course Hacienda Pinilla.
