Guanajuato

The city of Guanajuato (120 000 inhabitants), at 1996m above sea level, is one of the most beautiful, historic and cultural cities in Mexico. Guanajuato is a mining town, being rich is gold and silver, and is also well known for its colonial architechture. In 1988, UNESCO listed it as a world heritage site: the many tunnels in the city have become transport routes for cars and the rest is pedestrian only, making walking around very enjoyable. Each year in October, the town welcomes the International Cervantino festival.

A small and peaceful university town, far from other tourist cities such as Cancún and Cuernavaca, Guanajuato is the ideal place to learn Spanish in Mexico. You'll love the culture and architecture of this town. The international airport of the city allows journeys to other cities in Mexico and throughout the world.
