Practice Japanese

Postby bgirlfan » Tue Apr 28, 2009 11:27 pm

Hey people! I'm kinda new here, but I really want to move to Japan when I turn 18. So if anyone could help me to learn how to speak Japanese well enough to move over there, I would totally appreciate it! Here's everything I know so far:

Ohayoo Gozaimas(u)-Good morning
Konnichi-wa-Good afternoon
Genki des(u)?-How are you?
Daijobu des(u)-Are you okay?
Kawaii-cute

As you can see I really don't know that much...so if you could help me out, I would be forever grateful!

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to add some more words in Japanese for you!!! This time it will be different animals in Japanese. Next time I will add fruits!!! This is just to expand your vocabulary a little more. First one should learn how the vowels a,i,u,e,o are pronounced in Japanese. Take the letter "A' first. This in Japanese sounds like ah. Like when the doctor asks you to open your mouth and say "ah~". Then there is the letter "I". This is actually pronounced like the letter "E" in english. The letter "U" sounds like the begining of the word (oo)ze, or the OO sound in the word(s) Goo, Glue. The letter "E" in Japanese actually sounds like the lette "A" in english. And the last one is the letter "O" which actually sounds the same in Japanese and in english. With that I hope this helps when learning a new word and how you should pronounce them. This of course is just the little bit of the characters needed to learn japanese. One suggestion is that even though Romaji is useful and a great thing to have, make sure you learn your Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji. Don't use Romaji as a crutch!!!! Ok onto the vacabulary, yay!!!!!
